When should sound reinforcement be used?
You should consider using some form of sound reinforcement or PA system in any situation where either spoken word or music needs to be clearly audible at all times, particularly if there may be background noise present in the venue. What equipment is needed? What or how much equipment is needed for an event is very much dependent on the nature of the event and the venue it is to be held in. In general, events held in larger venues will require more amplification but how much will ultimately be determined by the acoustics of the room itself.
Are radio microphones necessary?
Radio microphones can be extremely useful in
certain circumstances. For instance:
In a conference situation where the speaker may want to move around
the room rather than remain behind a lectern. A lavalier (tie-clip)
radio microphone system would be ideal for this purpose
Or, in a live music situation where the vocalists are also dancing,
a headworn system may be more appropriate as this leaves
them free to concentrate on their movements rather than worrying about
whether they are singing into their microphone or not.
VHF or UHF? We firmly believe in using UHF systems as they offer high
sound quality and are generally more immune to interference than VHF
systems. They also allow more systems to be used simultaneously which
can be a major consideration when a large number of radio microphones
are required. All of the systems in our hire stock are UHF and made
by Sennheiser who are market leaders in this field and whose products
are proven to be robust and reliable.
